Position Summary

314 Action is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to electing Democratic scientists and STEM leaders who will champion facts, fight extremism, and deliver progressive change—from the U.S. Senate to local school boards.

314 Action is looking for a Candidate Services Manager to join our growing Campaigns Team. We provide campaigns with the resources, data, and support necessary to run smart, competitive campaigns, with a strong emphasis on building and executing effective fundraising operations. The Candidate Services Manager will support candidates and campaign teams across core campaign functions, including fundraising, organizing, and political operations, while working closely with our Campaign Advisors to ensure campaigns are set up to compete and grow throughout the cycle.

The Candidate Services Manager will help translate campaign strategy into execution, with particular responsibility for supporting day-to-day fundraising operations. This includes supporting call time planning and tracking, helping campaigns set and monitor financial goals, coordinating with finance consultants, and identifying operational gaps that could slow fundraising or overall campaign performance. The role also supports broader campaign operations by tracking progress across key benchmarks, helping campaigns stay organized and accountable, and serving as a consistent point of contact between 314 Action and campaign teams.

This role is ideal for someone who has served as a Finance Director or held another Director-level role on a Congressional campaign and is comfortable supporting both fundraising execution and broader campaign operations across multiple races.

Responsibilities Include

  • Deliver candidate services for STEM candidates across a portfolio of targeted federal and statewide offices. Support campaign advisors on services provided and add capacity on races where needed.
    • Work directly with campaign staff and candidates to help train and guide them in all aspects of the campaign - fundraising, messaging, strategy, staffing, spending, and, most importantly, how we win.
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and candidates by guiding them through the endorsement process while communicating benchmarks and requirements as well as making recommendations and advocating 314 Action leadership on candidate support.
  • Assess the finance program and overall operations of our campaigns and their opponents, and work with teams to develop effective strategies that are appropriate to their individual budgets and resources.
  • Work with the rest of the 314 campaigns team to prepare prospective candidates to launch.
  • Mentor campaign staff and work closely with them to ensure they have the resources, knowledge, and skill set to run a strong campaign. Provide assistance with budgeting, fundraising, campaign planning, paid media, polling, and all other critical aspects of the campaign.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess candidate viability using 314 Action’s candidate grading rubric, and coordinate across departments to develop individualized recruitment plans.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, elected officials, partner organizations, and consultants to identify prospects and build early-stage support.
  • Support successful campaign launches through strategic planning and coordination with candidate services, development, digital, and communications teams.
  • Track outreach, prospect data, and candidate movement using internal tools like Airtable, and support internal transparency across political and executive teams.
  • Contribute to cross-departmental planning and quarterly organizational reporting, providing insights on recruitment efforts, candidate status, and strategic trends.
  • Travel extensively to priority states and districts, attend events, and provide in-person support as needed for recruitment and campaign launches.
  • Work under the guidance of the Director of Federal and Statewide Campaigns to ensure strategic priorities are reflected in recruitment efforts and candidate pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in political campaigns, electoral organizing, or political consulting; experience managing or advising congressional or statewide campaigns strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of political landscapes, exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with candidates, organizational partners, and internal teams.
  • Commitment to electing diverse leaders and advancing equity and inclusion in candidate slates.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to changing electoral dynamics
  • Experience with campaign planning (field, fundraising, press, research) and familiarity with how to support candidates
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to track and manage multiple timelines and projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to collaboration, transparency, and communication across teams, especially in high-stakes or fast-moving environments.
  • Interest in growing within a mission-driven, fast-paced political organization; openness to learning from senior team members and contributing to the development of emerging leadership pipelines.

About 314 Action

314 Action is the nation’s leading organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and electing scientists, doctors, engineers, and other STEM professionals to public office. Since 2016, we’ve helped elect over 400 pro-science candidates—from U.S. Senators and Members of Congress to state legislators and local officials—supported by a grassroots network of more than 500,000 donors and six million science-aligned activists.

We believe evidence and facts should guide public policy. STEM leaders who are problem solvers bring critical expertise to some of the biggest challenges of our time—from climate change and public health to technological innovation and misinformation. Our work combines hands-on candidate training, strategic advising, and innovative fundraising strategies to help these leaders launch and win competitive races.

314 Action has raised over $60 million to support STEM candidates, helping elect three U.S. Senators, more than 15 Members of Congress, and hundreds of down-ballot officials. In 2024, we elected seven new STEM Members of Congress, including three of the six House seats flipped by Democrats nationwide.

In 2025, we launched Guardians of Public Health, a $25 million initiative to elect 100 doctors and public health experts to state legislatures and higher offices by 2030—ensuring science has a seat at the policymaking table.
